I know right? My blogs are like buses! You wait like literally a month for a new one and then two come along in quick succession! Let’s just say I was feeling productive this week or maybe it’s because its half term here in the UK so everyone I need to communicate with on the work front is on a sodding family holiday #somedaysiwishihadkids
The things I love most in life generally begin with an F; fashion, fitness, friends, family and Franco. I’m not necessarily saying in that order of course!
So I’m back onto my favourite subject, Fashion Friday!
I’ve already covered off my top pic of the Autumnal trends but in case you missed that blog here’s the link and by way of a super speedy round up for those of you who are only interested in the highlights, we’re talking, all things red, keeping it sharply tailored, sultry dark florals, metallic, feather and fur.
Pulling together an en pointe capsule Autumn wardrobe needn’t be as daunting as you think and you can score even more points on the fashion doors, by adopting some of the above trends into your essential Fall Five.
Below are the key statement pieces I’m recommending you either invest in or delve deep into the back of your closet and recycle.
In no particular order you are going to need a statement sweater (preferably plaid design, definitely with some seasonal red), and pair of leathers (faux leather if you’re that way inclined or just a skinny black cigarette pant if you really can’t summon forth your inner rock child), a pair of lace up boots, an over- sized coat and a flap bag (top trumps if it’s a Chanel sweeties!)
The Humble Sweater
God I love a chunky knit. And a fine knit come to think of it. With a roll neck, or an asymmetric bottom, or a fabulous jacquard print. I just love jumpers! They come in all shapes and sizes and to fit all budgets.
Top of “knit” parade this year is anything plaid. Here’s a few this Cat is coveting.
I really don’t care what anyone says, I will be rocking my leathers till the day I die. There is an inner rock chick inside us all. I just let mine come out to play a bit more often. I have various styles back indoors with widely varying price tags, from Preen to M&S but one thing is for sure, I wear them all with bags of swag!
If money were absolutely NO object, the lace up stretch leather pants from Unravel would be on my wish list. God knows where I’d ever go to wear them mind, but I’ve never let that get in the way of a purchase before and don't intend to start being sensible now!
Lace up ladies – these boots were made for slaying
There is something reassuringly “practical” about a lace up boot don’t you think? Even if they’re made of velvet with a 6-inch heel that will have you headed arse over tit the minute there’s any dampness in the air.
Just because I LOVE them so much for their ridiculous fabulousness and total lack of practicality, my selection of lace up booties will make you weep with joy, that or the prices will reduce you to tears.
I love this little lace-up haul and there will be high street equivalents you can grab to suit a more modest budget.
I think its obligatory that one should invest in a new winter coat on a regularly recurring basis. Like annually in my book! I have a wardrobe at home just for my coats. It’s like stepping into Narnia! It’s a world of wonderment.
This year I am suggesting a longer length over coat and if you want to be really on trend, make it MOHAIR.
There’s really no need to get yourself into a flap dear
This one accessory can really finish off your Autumn capsule wardrobe and have you looking every inch the fully fledge forty something fashionista. I’m talking about getting your flaps out sweeties – those on your should bag! Of course this seasons go to brand is Valentino but was there ever a more iconic and covetable flap than that of Chanel? Guess have some pretty reasonably priced ones this season and I just bought a fab little basic black and gold one from M&S.
I’m feeling frivolous though and it is Fabulous Fashion Friday after all, so for all of you out there who don’t have one yet but who truly do deserve one, here are some beautiful Chanel’s to make your heart beat just that little bit faster. #steadygirl
In a new little edition to my blog I’ve decided to curate for you a complete look – high end to high street. I love this game! It’s like I’m a virtual personal shopper. Actually, I might start offering a new service - you send me your budget and I'll create a short list for you with all the seasons must haves! Just don't give me £100 otherwise I've no chance. #cantbudgetfortoffee
