October has been a bit of a write off (pardon the pun) when it comes to blogging.
I need to re-assess my diary management technique to ensure I can shoe horn everything in to my hectic life. God knows how you wonderful women out there with children manage? Hats off to you. I’m struggling to keep on top of looking after the basics this month – i.e. ME!
It’s been a flurry of hair extensions, visits up and down to the glamorous studio lights of Ideal World in Peterborough (that's me and my wonderful team below), a crafty little new project bubbling away and always, yes always, my regular exercise sessions. Seems I have no problem whatsoever fitting in work and Pilates. It’s just eating, flat cleaning, socializing, actually spending time with Franco and now blogging that have been suffering. I have a list of household chores as long as my arm that seem to roll over from one weekend to the next. Anyone fancy coming round and picking up all the leaves?
I wonder, how do you all find time to do the things you need and want to do? Do you have any tried and tested techniques that work for you?
Personally I’m a great believer in writing lists and keeping a diary. And I mean in the good old fashioned sense too. I have everything entered electronically but I just love making and more importantly and satisfyingly, ticking off a hand written list.
In January I invested in a new Daily Greatness journal. You can get lots of different versions depending upon what the key focus of your own daily routine needs to be and where you might be missing some much needed discipline.
I chose the Daily Greatness Business Planner because making money currently and turning my business around is my No1 priority.
It’s a very action orientated diary that requires me to complete business plans, review my goals and objectives, daily, weekly and monthly, with the idea being that it will help me expand my mind and therefore my business ergo I am more productive and end up earning more MONEY! Aint that grand! I'm lacking accountability and this really helps.
I frickin love it and will definitely be re-purchasing another one for next year. I might have several on the go – for business and pleasure. Its all about the balance after all.
If you struggle to focus on the “doing” in your life, then I highly recommend investing in one and especially if you too get a sense of achievement from being able to tick off and see what you have actually achieved. You’ll be surprised at just how productive you've been. Also, if you love a good bit of stationery like me then they really are the business!!!!They're old school heavy and I like that! I feel like a proper #bossbase #femaleentrepeneur with mine!
Check out their website and get one added to your Xmas list.
You might also want to consider “out-sourcing” elements of your life that can be delivered for you! #clonemenow
These days you can pay someone to do pretty much everything for you, the idea being that you then have time to de-clutter your life and to focus on what’s really important and truly needs your un-divided and hands on personal attention.
Of course, this also requires you to have the funds to pay for such services but really your time is the most precious commodity that you have so you should be spending it wisely. We have no problem paying for someone to do our hair (which of course is a very skilled and creative service) but you can also have someone virtually manage your diary too, your very own executive, behind the scenes PA if you like! Imagine that? How very Kardashian-esque! Look on-line these days and there is pretty much nothing that you can’t get someone else to do for you!
From dog walking, to diary management, meal preparation to your weekly ironing. If it doesn’t add value to your life and you could be far more productive handing it over to someone else, then hell, why not? She says, as she’s currently working from home, AKA cleaning the floors, finally clearing the garden of those Autumn leaves, carving out a pumpkin, tackling a pile of ironing on the side, attempting to write this blog piece and working on a 2018 marketing plan and full financial forecast for a client. Oh yes, I also need to get a Pilates session in later, head to the supermarket and tick off a few things on my daily greatness list!! #notenoughhoursintheday #nowisallyouhave
Is there a moral to this blog or am I just wittering away to myself again?
What I would say is don’t sell yourself short. You are managing amazing things in your life and achieving so much more on a daily basis than you probably realise and definitely give yourself credit for. Pause for a few minutes today and either write down or mentally recap just what it is that you have done today and allow yourself a big old pat on the back.
You did good kid!
OK, so you haven’t put any make-up on yet, you might still be sat in your pyjamas eating your porridge with a hair mask on (yes that’s me multi-tasking already this morning) but you are already winning at life and are always, yes always, completely FABULOUS! (another crap blog photo taken by Franco - really I could with out-sourcing my boyfriend or finding a new photographer!) #keepingitreal
