I was in a “back to school” vibe this morning. Not sure why as unfortunately I still haven’t been anywhere this year so there was no going back to anywhere different to where I’ve been going the whole summer – the office! I felt like putting on my new school uniform. I used to love going back to school as a kid with shiny new shoes, a winter coat, new lunchbox and a pencil case! God I used to literally love new stationery!
I decided to make a few “to do lists” and create some action plans to implement for the, dare I say it, AUTUMN!!! For me these usual revolve around a couple of key areas in my life: fitness, finance and fashion! Three more FFF’s from this fully fledged TripleF.
I’ve decided that I want to be financially fit! That’s a new one isn’t it?
I’m physically fit but I have the financial IQ of a sloth. I really need to start taking as much good care of my finances as I do my body. Not quite sure where to start on that one yet but I’ve promised myself that now I am settled into my new house I will focus my energies and attention into having financial freedom and flexibility. As the saying goes, energy flows where attention goes.
So today I went back to my The Secret money app where I found I had a cheque for £200,000 to be deposited into my virtual bank. Well Happy Monday to me!
First off I decided to heavily invest in a marketing budget for my blog. I’m never going to get that lucrative sponsorship from Estee Lauder or The Kooples if they still don’t know that I’m here! It really is time after blogging to no-one for 12 months to raise my profile and turn this hobby into a revenue stream.
Secondly I thought it was time that I also kick started my property empire. Sadly £200,000 doesn’t get you anything in this neck of the woods so, following the lead of my far more savvy business partners, I’m looking ooop North for properties to buy and have given myself a £100,000 start-up budget.
The rest I’ll be spending on clothes – obvs! I quite literally am lusting after the entire Self Portrait collection. Just look at these exquisite pieces. I love the use of devoree velvet and guipuire lace. I am so in love. I’ve always loved Autumnal fashion. I feel an imaginary Net A Porter fashion haul coming on next.
I’m pretty much all there when it comes to the fitness. I quite literally couldn’t fit much more in and I’m happy with the mix of exercise that I do and what I think are the visible changes made to my shape this year. My core is toned and tight from the Pilates, my legs and my bum are definitely more “shapely” from the Barre classes, my flexibility and upper body strength is increasing the more yoga sessions I do and my stamina is good for a woman of any age, never mind past her mid 40’s, due to my very regular twice weekly metafit sessions. I did 50 burpees in 2 minutes on Saturday! #pocketrocket
(here I am in the middle of a Pilates session with my legs in straps! Love it!)
I have a pair of scales which I never ever use. They were gathering dust in the old flat and had been packed away. I’ve always hating seeing how much I weigh. For a little lass I’ve always been pretty hefty on the old weigh in. I blame it on the sturdy Northern knees! However, more for Franco’s benefit than mine, I decided to put the scales out in the new bathroom. Let’s just say that he’s not had the same attitude this year to fitness as I have and his sedentary job and fact that he’s no longer a 20 something footballer have resulted in him gaining a few extra pounds! He’ll kill me for saying it but he never reads my blog anyway!
So, with a little trepidation, but also knowing that I have very much been maintaining good fitness and nutrition all year, I hopped onto the scales this morning. And it was a Happy Monday again! I’ve lost 2.5 kilos since when I last got weighed, which admittedly was probably three years ago. I suspect that I have probably sadly lost some muscle mass too as I’m doing nowhere near as much weight training and far more body weight exercises than I used to.
The moral of the story being, carry on doing what you love, don’t focus on your weight too much, do what makes you happy and gets your heart and pulse racing and you might just be surprised by the results.
I do have a few additional nutritional hacks up my sleeve too which involve a daily breakfast including power ingredients like blueberries, avocadoes, maca and baobab which I will be sharing with you in another blog post later this month. #makebaobabfamous
