Little wonder I stayed in my last place for 6 years. Please new landlords, don’t sell this place any time soon. My nerves are still jangling!
They say that moving home is one of the most stressful things you can do. Imagine then trying to do that, whilst running your own business (when your business partners are “off grid” at Burning Man and you have a huge TV product launch to manage later in the week) but more significantly when your partner is a cross between Frank Spencer, Norman Wisdom, Mr Tickle and a playful Labrador! I can’t believe that more things didn’t get broken! In the end its just me that’s feeling a little bit fragile. I need to sit in a dark room for a month and recover! Or go on holiday, which is actually where I am supposed to be right now, on a beach in Rhodes, not un packing boxes in Brentwood! Oh yes, and it looks like it's pissing down with rain this morning too. #endofthesummer?
Thank god for parents and specifically my Dad who is the most amazing human being on the planet– totally hands on and practical with the patience of a Saint. Love you Mum and Dad and I am so sorry that I took you on this roller coaster stress of a house move ride with me but quite literally, I really could not have done it without you. That bungalow you always dreamt of moving into when you retired? I wouldn’t bother! You have 50 years of stuff to pack not 6 like me! Mum will have a meltdown.
Special shout out to Simply Removals. The two guys who moved us were quite simply, fabulous! No nonsense, super organized, fast, efficient and didn’t break or lose a thing. I seriously recommend them if you’re moving in the future.
Also a very big thanks to Franco for his relentless support and understanding of my bad temper! Grumpy Cat was in full throttle the last two weeks. I don’t think I’ve said one nice thing to him. Sorry Nene. You know I love you and I will be Happy Cat again now that we are settled. Here he is in a very rare approved selfie actually looking happy! Say "cheese".
It was also both our Birthdays too but we put those on hold although did enjoy some glorious bank holiday sunshine and bubbles in our new garden. More of that kind of behavior to come I hope. I don't even mind drinking my bubbles in the rain.
The last two weeks have literally flown by in a flurry of paint brushes, dust sheets, sandpaper and cleaning materials. I’ve been up and down ladders and the stairs more times than I care to mention. For someone who exercises 6 days of the week I have been exhausted beyond measure and had body parts ache that I would never have conceived of. In particular, my Achilles and my hands! All that rollering the walls and trying to balance on tip toes cutting in! These are a few of the "before" pics. The Afters will come when I've finished "titivating".
I prepared my first Sunday roast in a year at the weekend and I’m currently enjoying reviewing my back issue collection of Elle Deco and thumbing through Graham and Greene, Cox and Cox and Swoon brochures.
So sorry if I’ve been off radar with my blog for like the entire of August! Normal service will be resumed with loads of updates on anti-aging skincare, Autumnal fashion faves, healthy eating ideas for completely hormonal banshee like women and methinks some interior inspired posts too.
Much love and fabulousness and I look forward to giving you a sneak peak into my new home as it all gets duly unpacked!
