Today I’m covering off 7 simple lifestyle tips you should be adopting right now in order to rediscover the youthful dewy skin of your yester years. I’m not talking invasive treatments or spending mega bucks on expensive lotions and creams (I’ll leave that for another day!) I’m chatting instead about tried and tested, no nonsense lifestyle tweaks that you can start making today. Believe me, sometimes simple really is best. Make these the rules that you try to live by. I say try because as I well, know, (especially number 4 on my list) its’s easier said than done.
#AgeDefyingSecretNo1. Eat Good Fat
Yes, you heard me, ditch the sugar and switch to a diet high in good fats like avocadoes, oils and nuts. I know I’ve talked about this before but good fats like these will make your skin look plumper and more radiant and you’ll feel better too. I personally like to put a spoon of omega 3 rich seed mix in with my smoothies on a morning. So go with the glow and get some fats into your daily diet.

I call it the S FACTOR – sun, stress and sugar.
The beauty jury unanimously agrees - they are all bad for your skin.
Excess sugar (which can also be found in Prosexco ladies - sorry to put a dampener on things) causes damage and depletion of collagen and elastin production which overall makes skin look more sallow and less lustrous. This confectionary concoction below does look pretty yummy but what would you rather have? A moment of sugary indulgence or a few more pronounced wrinkles?

Get active ladies. None of this, "I’ve not got time" malarkey. You don’t need to be spending hours in Pilates and Barre classes like I do. Just commit to say 20 x 3 minute sessions a week. Even if that’s walking instead of taking the car for a change. Women who exercise tend to have a brighter complexion and that’s because their circulation is working harder, pumping fresh oxygenated blood around their system. Also, all those additional showers (as you’ll be sweating more) mean cleansing and exfoliating more often which will contribute to healthier looking and fresher, renewed skin. As long as you’re not over exfoliating with anything too harsh. Keep it gentle.

Keep calm ladies. You are doing yourself no favours stressing out. One of the single biggest contributors to adverse skin conditions is stress. I know only too well as I suffer from breakouts of hives on a regular basis. Of course, stress and anxiety are real and the pressures of modern living are immense. I don’t even have kids to worry about and I’m regularly frazzled and feeling burnt out. I’ve recently taken up yoga and meditation and they really work for me. It used to be a little Selfridges shopping spree when I lived in North London. Oh for the recuperative power of a pair of new shoes! Is there ever a better feeling of joy and happiness? Now I just “vision” them instead. I have a enviable stack of Louboutins and Jimmy Choo's in my imaginary walk in dressing room! Seriously though ladies, take some deep breaths, you have more than got this. Go and light your favourite candle and say a few OM's. As I like to say #namasteallday

Our busy modern diet and lifestyle can mean that we’re not getting all the good vitamins our bodies need and your best skin starts from within. Most beauty industry experts advocate a Vitamin D supplement for both boosting your mood and your general health. It’s like having a session on a far flung tropical beach, swinging gently in your hammock with a frozen cocktail in your hand, only without the ravaging damage of those UV rays or the hangover to boot. In the UK we most definitely don’t get enough sunshine so don't worry be happy and get yourself a Vitamin D3 supplement.

This is one that I struggle with due to the fact that I am always trying out new products to report back to you lovely people. When it comes to skincare though you should be keeping it simple. It’s an undisputed beauty industry truth that UVA is seriously ageing and even if you are blessed with the best genes in the world, if you worship the sun too often, you’ll age much faster. Make sure that you always use a sunscreen all year round, not just when you are on your holibobs. You might not be able to see those harmful voodoo rays but they are there, wreaking havoc to your skin cells. Make sure you treat your sunscreen like you do your toothpaste. Slather it on every day, even if you're at home and not away!
