We're back talking about the A-Z power ingredients today when it comes to all things anti-aging and prolonging those youthful looks. We’re already over half way through the alphabet at the letter O, which today is for Omegas.
Omegas, also known as essential fatty acids, are the building blocks to maintain a youthful complexion and if you’ve read any of my other nutrition based blog posts, you’ll know they’re something that I rave about and regularly include in my own diet.
Our body can’t naturally produce Omegas so we do need to rely on a food source to obtain them. You’ll have heard of Omegas before and they are usually followed by numbers, most commonly 3, 6 and 7.
What they essentially help do is nourish the skin from within, but each has its own unique property.
Omega 7 is best for helping renew and restore suppleness
Omega 6 provides high levels of moisturisation
Omega 3 reduces redness and inflammation
Omega 9 works to intensely nourish and repair
Overall they are jam packed full on antioxidant, anti-inflammatory benefits and with long term and consistent daily use they can help penetrate the skins barrier and thereby encourage your other anti-aging products to be delivered more deeply where they can ensure more targeted and effective results.
So if you want to maintain that youthful glow and counteract loss of hydration, reach for the Omegas. As a side note, they’re also great for helping with depression and stubborn belly fat too!
My daily breakfast protein shake is also packed with an Omega blend of seeds that I pick up in Holland and Barrett. Its a megamix chock full of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, golden linseed, brown linseed and sesame seeds and is a great source of Omegas.
Mother Nature herself is a wonderful source when it comes to helping in the fight against anti-aging so make sure you partake of her bounty if you want to stay a fabfit beauty!
