Lactic acid or L-lactic acid is a great addition to look out for in your anti-ageing skincare products, in particular if it's a featured active ingredient in your cleanser, mask or face peel.
Why? Because it can be used to really effectively cleanse and exfolifate the skin leading to a more radiant and younger looking complexion. It will help reduce hyper pigmentation and age spots which a lot of women begin to suffer from as they hurtle into their 40's and it can also be really useful at eradicating pesky in-grown hairs too.
Lactic acid is also anti-bacterial, which means that it's great at tackling acne. Unfortunately, something that even at the ripe old age of 45 I still regularly struggle with.
I'm currently sporting a chin full of the angry bleeders. They're probably hormonal and as a result of my body going into (non toxic) shock as I feed it with healthy green kale based juice instead of red wine grape juice but they are very much unwanted! Spots be gone, you little buggers!
My current mood below!
Come to think of it, I think that detoxing should come with a government health warning! The jury for me is still out as to what the benefits will be come the 1st of February of all this forced abstinence and whether denying myself Merlot will really have been worth it!
I'm hoping that a brighter, perkier, younger looking Kitten will be replacing this grumpy old Moggy! As ever, I'll be documenting my trials and tribulations for your delectation and amusement!
So the below is of course a photo-shopped exaggeration and you're visiting my blog for a reality check guide not to be peddled unicorn shit! But truly, alpha hydroxy acids (of which Lactic acid is part of the tribe) really do help with a multitude of anti-ageing issues. So be sure to check your labels and look out for it.
The AHA gang also includes its good friends glycolic and citric acid. More on those another week.
I've said it before and I will say it again! I am quite literally OBSESSED with this product from Sunday Riley.
Good Genes main ingredient is Lactic Acid and it is my No 1 skincare favourite of the past 12 months. I know I keep banging on about it but it really is that good! I promise you won't be disappointed.
Right now Cult Beauty have a special offer on the entire Sunday Riley range so you could try out Good Genes and receive a full size version of her equally amazing Ceramic Slip cleansing product, totally free. Again, a staple in my bathroom.
So there you have it. Who'd have thought that putting acid on your face was going to be such a good idea!
