So its time to kick back, relax and sit upon on my bum!
I've talked about my love of red wine, but I wouldn't be fit to call myself an FFF if I didn't have a bigger love for bubbles!
Specifically I adore Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Rose.
Back in the days when I worked (I loosely call it work! It was more a social club to be fair that we just turned up to) in media in London, we held what were infamous Xmas parties in our industry.
Myself and Butler (that's Lucy Jeary these days) were in charge of the budget and the preparations. Yes I know, a dirty job but someone had to do it and we were very well equipped for the role!
It consisted of lots of important "meetings" out of the office picking out the perfect venue, deciding how much of the budget we spent on booze versus food (like 90% of it!!) and other seasonal shenanigans to deliver a super party that our fellow colleagues probably wouldn't remember the next day! We had lots of "tasting" sessions too. God I miss that job!
I distinctly recall the year we decided to go "sophisticated" for a change, hosting a champagne and canapes party at No 5 Cavendish Square. The dress code was "elegant". There were probably about 60 of us in total and I think we ordered 100 bottles of Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Rose! We've always been ambitious drinkers! We had the venue till about 11.00 and at 10.00 still had about 30 or so bottles to drink! I remember the maitre d coming over to inform us as such.
"Oh, that's OK" we said, "we're having an after party so we'll just take them away!"
Disdainfully we were advised, "We're not an off license!"
Ergo - end of the sophisticated party. We proceeded to get totally rat arsed and finish off all the Perrier Jouet. Well, it would have been exceedingly rude not to and we do have good manners don't you know!
Needless to say, it went even more down hill after that.
I have a hazy memory of dancing Chinese Elvis impersonators, plastic pine trees and various colleagues falling over and breaking tables. Happy days! It was before Facebook so there is no embarrassing evidence to upload.
That came later when we had our Vegas themed party! See below! Now that was another magnificent party (2008 I think).
