I'll cover off my love of micro-dermabrasion and be reviewing my latest gadget, the Microderm MD, another day but for tonight, I wanted to quickly re-cap on the importance of using the right exfoliator for your skin type.
You only have to take a look at the comparison above of the always elegant and sartorially styled Cate Blanchett to see the power and benefit that a good exfoliation regime can have on your skin.
By exfoliating regularly (and by that we mean at least twice a week) your are removing the surface debris and dirt that can lead to clogged pores and breakouts which results in generally dull and lack lustre skin.
You should very quickly start to see healthier, plumper and more even skin tone, a decrease in pore size and an overall more softer, smother and radiant complexion. All of that naturally means you're going to stay looking younger for longer. Simple.
Here's my pick of the best exfoliators that I've tried and tested and love. They get the Triple-F seal of approval!
Cream based Exfoliators - usually contain micro beads within a moisturising cream or lotion so are great for dry skin. I am a big fan of the Hungarian Brand, Omorovicza and I use a lot of their products. This one is seriously expensive but boy is it good and it just smells divine too. It's called the Blue Diamond Restorative Peeland its nothing short of sensational.
Gel Exfoliators - Similar results to creams but better for oily and combinations skin. I just love, Gel Eclat from Lancome. Its fine and voluminous and easily glides onto the skin. Its not at all abrasive and feels just divine. It gently but really effectively liberates your skin from surface impurities. Definitely worth a go.
Chemical Exfoliators - Not as scary as they sound. You're looking for something with gycolic, lactic, citric or salicylic acid. Super effective at removing surface dead skin cells and great for more oily prone skin. Alpha H Liquid Gold is a fabulous over night exfoliating treatment. Pop it on clean skin before you head off to the land of nod and wake up with a brighter and more even complexion. This one features Glycolic acid as its key beneficial property.
