You're never too old to work on your muscular strength and endurance. You really can be leaner, fitter and younger looking in your 40's.
Personally, I don't just feel but I think I look stronger too. For me, that's sexy and empowering. I'm not talking about body building bulk (that's one of the great fallacies about women who regularly lift weights), I'm talking about beautiful definition, cut and shape where
you want to see it the most.
I'm an original Northern girl who doesn't want any part of her body heading South! (yes, I am proud of my butt and my man loves it too!)
I don't follow some sort of fad weight loss regime or strive to get unrealistically ripped abs. I'm no insta fitness model.
I'm a real FFF who quite frankly has got to work at it all. What I'm looking to achieve is a leaner physique and all round to have bags more energy and stamina. I'm pretty sure that's what most other women in their 40's want too.
So its important to switch up your exercise as you move through the decades.
In your 40's you should be focused on FUNCTIONAL rather than FAT LOSS exercises
The great by product being, that when you exercise this way, you'll automatically start to see just that, fat loss results where you want them the most.
I LOVE exercise and I LOVE finding new ways to challenge my body, working on my overall physique. I do a fair amount of exercise and I really mix up my sessions between HIIT training (and especially metafit classes which I just adore), weight training, Pilates, Yoga and Barre. I positively HATE boring old running. Plus, sorry for those of you out there who love to run and I know it does have some great benefits, but it is just so ageing for the face! (All that pounding up and down on the concrete can't be good either for your joints or for keeping a lovely, soft and youthful lifted face. We have enough trouble fighting gravity as it is.)

We're talking old school back to basics exercises. Think Burpees, Lunges, Squat Jumps and Press Ups. All the great stuff you'll get to do in a Metafit class.
Below is a burpee demonstration, hands down one of the most beneficial and functional exercises you can do.
And before you say, "I can't do those". YES YOU CAN. If I can, then you can.
There are always modifications and adjustments you can make to every exercise if you're struggling. As we know, being in your 40's doesn't come without some niggling injuries from a life already well lived. Our bodies are.......(let's call it) experienced!
